Some live their lives in the service of others
True to their cause and true to their brothers
We know the truth will set you free
But liberty’s price is hard to see
To those that serve and brave the harm
It matters not that some alarm
Is not displayed in every place
To remind all of how we tempt fate
Is is not our wish that you be us
Although it would be flattering enough
What we so want our service to do
Is make sure, forever, that you can be you
To love and to pray and to ride on the range
To take a long holiday, to grow and change
To dance and skate and rise and fall
and dream big dreams and conquer them all
To be always so, because we have in mind
That when Americans of every kind
Pull the rope and swing the clapper
The Liberty Bell chimes “Freedom.”
