Cowboy poetry
Original poems by Mark Brosnan and Douglas DeAngelis. At the Cache Valley Rendezvous, we were honored to win an award for reciting “A Veteran’s Wish,” a heartfelt tribute to those who serve and sacrifice for our freedom.
We talked of the Moon
In evening clear, the moon is a sight
that begs our devotion as the queen of the night
The Girl on the Swing
Small and slow is a town that I know
It’s dusty brown and mostly broken
The Joy of Louis’ Western Life
The joy of western life
Is a pearl of great price
The Light of the Stars
The light of the stars sing a song each night
In the west it's a tune you will hear all your life
Alone
I’m off for the dance, it’s Saturday night
I’m a two steppin’ Cowboy, in the fading sunlight
Award winner
A Veteran's Wish
Some live their lives in the service of others
True to their cause and true to their brothers
The Saskatchewan Yearling
Riding the fence line hired men often do
Ensuring the line is straight and it’s true
